O'Grady was born to Jim O'Grady and Jan O'Grady. Jim O'Grady works as an advisor to financial institutions. The city of her birth was Detroit in Michigan. She was the child of Jan and Jim O'Grady who were financial planners. She appeared as a model in commercials for a time prior to moving to Los Angeles. O'Grady's early career was as a Montgomery Ward model, where she was also featured in several commercials. She was the star of her big screen debut in the 1988 romantic comedy she's Having a Baby, and she was later cast in the recurring part on the ABC drama China Beach opposite Dana Delany. In addition to guest-starring on different shows and appearing in independent films as well as produced for television, she also appeared as the main character in several television shows.
